DAY 1     

8h00. Depart from Johannesburg.  We journey via Dullstroom and the  spectacular scenery of the Blyde River Canyon

and the Abel Erasmus Pass to Kruger National Park. 

Dinner served by your guides. 

 

DAY 2      

An early morning game drive before or after breakfast is a must. Your guides will advise which route and destination within the park is likely to be the most productive.  Game viewing will be will be punctuated by comfort stops at strategic spots.  No matter which route we take, we cannot be sure what to expect and will pay attention to whatever nature chooses to reveal to us.

After a sunset drive in a Parks Board vehicle dinner will be served by your guides

 

DAY 3        

We depart Kroger Park at dawn (6h00) towards our next destination, Moholoholo Nature Reserve, stopping at a picnic site along the way for brunch.  Arrive at Moholoholo at midday.  A visit to the rehabilitation centre is a must and we'll end the day with a late afternoon drive around the reserve in a Moholoholo open game viewing vehicle.  Dinner will be served by Moholoholo staff.

 

DAY 4       

After a quick breakfast and an early morning walk, we’ll leave for Lekgalameetse, the place of rushing water.

The afternoon is spent exploring the forests, glades and grasslands of this reserve, which is steeped in history.

 

DAY 5    

After breakfast, an early morning walk through the indigenous forest surrounding the camp, not forgetting to take binoculars and cameras as the bird life here is remarkable and species such as the Narina Trogon and Knysna Touraco are often encountered. 

We will return to camp for lunch and rest at midday, before setting off for an afternoon drive in  BUSH-FELT TOURS vehicles to Church Forest. This is a good site to see Black Saw-wing Swallow and other montage grassland species like Wing-snapping, Croaking and Wailing Cisticola. A fireside supper, while we listen for night sounds will end the day.

 

DAY 6    

We could lie in a bit, and take our leave of Lekgalameetse after enjoying a leisurely breakfast, or rise early for birding

before leaving the park.    Arrival time back in Johannesburg approximately 16h00

General comment regarding meals:  During our stay in Kruger National Park homely meals will be provided, bearing in mind the space constraints of packing utensils, cooking equipment and provisions for such a large group for a week. 

 

All of the camps where we are booked have restaurants and/ or cafeterias where additional snacks can be purchased.

DAY 1.

 

Depart Johannesburg at 8h30, and travel to Satara, Kruger National Park via the JG Strydom Tunnel and the Open Gate.  We can expect to see much plains game such as impala, black wildebeest, zebra and giraffe flock to this area.  If we’re lucky we may catch a glimpse of the predators who lie in wait for these grazers.

DAY 2.

 

We’ll spend the morning game viewing in the Satara region.  There are numerous roads and water-holes that offer good sightings.

 

In the late afternoon you will board a parks board vehicle for a sunset drive, and return to camp for dinner.

DAY 3.

 

Depart Satara for Olifants Camp, where you’ll enjoy splendid view over the Olifants River gorge, renowned for raptor sightings.

 

If the skies are clear we can enjoy amazing night skies.

 

Overnight at Olifants Camp.

 

DAY 4.

 

Early morning departure to Letaba Camp, where we’ll enjoy breakfast and enjoy the peace and tranquillity and beautiful views this camp has to offer.

 

After breakfast we’ll proceed to Mopani Camp, deep in the bush, overlooking the Pioneer Dam.

 

DAY 5.

 

We’ll spend the morning game viewing around Mopani and the afternoon at leisure to relax and enjoy the peace and tranquillity the camp has to offer.

 

Mopani is situated in Mopani shrub habitat, much favoured by vast herds of buffalo and elephant.

DAY 6.

 

Leave Mopani, exit Kruger via Phalaborwa gate, and travel to Magoebaskloof, in the land of mountains and mists.

 

Spend the late afternoon looking for forest birds at our private accommodation (Kuriso Moya).

DAY 7.

 

Leave at dawn, with our award-winning bird guide David Letsoalo, to find elusive forest specials in the Wood-bush Forest.

Lunch at the quaint town of Haenertsburg before returning to Johannesburg via Polokwane.

 

Arrival at Johannesburg at approx. 17h00.
